Agent K If mostly Instrumental Post-Metal is your thing; then The Burning Sea NEEDS to be on your " To Do List."
This debut LP is much heavier hitting than the band's most recent release; but that's not a bad thing by any means.
These trax come blazing forth from the land Down Under with an urgency and intensity that rivals the kings of the genre.
If Red Sparowes, Godspeed...& their ilk gets your blood pumping; what are you waiting for?
This crushes everything in its wake! Favorite track: Until You Next Return.

Michael Reilly A very progressive combination of post-rock and doom styled sounds, artfully blended into a pulsating storm of highly impressive songs. Play it loud so that you can really soak in the full experience. Favorite track: We Are Dust.

about

This is a sample from the 10 track self titled album.

The members of The Burning Sea are no amateurs. Possessing a long, detailed and respectable history that extends into the previous century, they have launched straight into recording and releasing their self titled debut album well within two years of formation. This album injects spirit into the amorphous post rock/metal genres by drawing upon, no wave, noise rock and 90’s loud quiet, leaving the others to flounder in their long ambient sound scapes.

Don’t let their haste deter, the writing is calculated, considered, patient yet also free and fluid. As each track unfolds, it is also clear the right balance between expectation and surprise has been struck. Opening track “When I reach Ithaca” concludes in a sonic overload. Then the expansive melodic journey of “Until your next return” is destroyed by the stomach churning, doom laden ending of “We are dust”. In “Maps” they climb to dizzying heights before devastatingly fracturing the earths crust in one hell of a breakdown whilst the short bursts of “Wires and “Decameron” keep the procession moving towards the punishing closer “Empty Vessels”.

The drums and bass drive as the tonally rich guitars dynamically interweave and rightly soar above. A unique use of voice adds a further quality to the walls of explosive noise.

The attention to sound expansion and contraction is what sets The Burning Sea apart. When on stage they leave the audience in a state of disorientated awe. The release of their debut album on Capital Games is poised to let everyone in on a little Adelaide secret…. The Burning Sea is pretty bloody good.
